What is Kombucha?
Our kombucha is a naturally fermented bubbly probiotic tea. We add SCOBY to sweetened tea and ferment this over many days, creating a delicious drink full of organic acids and live cultures.
What is a SCOBY?
SCOBY is an acronym for Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast. This living culture (Which looks a bit like a slimy pancake) eats the sugar during fermentation.
How much can I have each day?
There is no recommended limit but If you are starting out we’d suggest a small cup per day and go from there. Listen to your body!
Can I drink kombucha while pregnant?
Our kombucha is a naturally fermented beverage that is raw and unpasteurised. Some women choose to have fermented foods like kombucha during pregnancy and some do not. It is a personal choice. Consult your GP or health professional if you are unsure.
How long does it last?
As it is a living drink, our kombucha does have a shelf life. Batchwell should be kept cold and can last up to three months.
Why does it need to be refrigerated?
Batchwell contains living bacteria and yeast that if left warm can begin to ferment again, which can result in a super fizzy kombucha which may pop the cap off or gush out of the bottle when opened.
Do you add sugar or sweeteners after you ferment the kombucha?
Absolutely not! We don’t add any sugar or sweeteners like stevia or erythritol after we have brewed the kombucha.
What are the floaty bits in my kombucha?
This is a natural by-product of the ferment and live culture. It is totally harmless and can be consumed or discarded. It’s how you know it’s the real deal!
Is Batchwell vegan friendly?
Yes, its 100% vegan, and because you’re asking it’s also 100% natural, raw and gluten free. Yippee
Does your kombucha have any flavour additives?
All of our flavour comes from either the tea, cold-pressed juice, or hops. No ‘flavours’, concentrates, or additives.
What is craft brewed kombucha?
For us, craft means brewed by a small, independent company using traditional fermentation methods, without using shortcuts. We brew by hand using small glass jars to create premium kombucha just for you.
Do you use kombucha concentrate?
We make kombucha the hard way, from scratch using traditional craft-brew techniques. Never from kombucha concentrate
What is kombucha concentrate?
A kombucha syrup that some companies use to make cheap, diluted kombucha. not us… Don’t be fooled
Is your drink pasteurised?
Nope, 100% raw and unpasteurised
I just ordered my Batchwell, when will it be delivered?
Orders received by midday Mon-Thu will be sent out for next working day North Island delivery, and two working day South Island delivery.
I want to subscribe but what if I want to change my regularity or flavour?
The subscription is totally flexible - once subscribed you get a login to access your subscription and change flavour, regularity, or cancel at any time.
